To create the design, Bieber’s nail tech Zola Ganzorigt looked to OPI’s GELevate and Intelli-Gel ranges – namely the shades ‘Pink Over-Slay’ and ‘Supercute Colour’, according to a tutorial shared on Instagram. But the star is OPI’s Tin Man Can chrome powder, which Ganzorigt buffed across the nail as a final touch, to achieve that ultra-shiny finish. According to Shelton, prepping the nails is essential to creating a clean, dry base. Start by pushing back your cuticles. Then gently buff the surface, and wipe your nails clean with a polish remover to get rid of any oils. Although Bieber opted for a classy, rounded almond shape, take your natural nail length and our guide to every nail shape into account when shaping yours using a nail file. Once you’ve chosen your pink shade for a milky, semi-transparent base, Shelton offers a trick to achieving Bieber’s colour: ‘layer it lightly with essie’s Blush Jelly, if you want a tiny bit more strawberry tone.’ As for the essential chrome coating, top it with a sheer, metallic topcoat once your base has dried. ‘Glazed Chrome from essie gives a subtle, pearly shimmer which mimics the glazed look,’ explains Shelton. Finish with a clear top coat for that glass-like shine and longwear, then a cuticle oil.
