To do ombre nails, you will need at least two colors but using three colors will create the best nails with an ombre effect. Two methods can be used: gel ombre nails with sponge or brush. To create the blur effect between the colors, you can use a Semilac ombre brush or simply a makeup sponge if you don’t have the brush. Simple steps to do ombre gel nails with brush include preparing your nail plate, applying gel polish base coat, applying base color, and applying three gel polish colors in three sections. Use brush to blend colors with gently and quick horizontal brush moves. Then with the tip of the brush gentle spread of the product near the lines where the color was mixed. You can also use a sponge to create ombre gel nails by applying all nail polish to the sponge by painting colored stripes and then applying varnish from the sponge onto your nail. Alternatively, apply varnish first and then blend it using a sponge. Apply the base coat and then base color, next apply another color and blur it using a sponge, cure this layer and repeat the action to achieve a gorgeous ombre effect on nails. To achieve a seamless gradient, be patient with blending each layer. Tip: If you are starting with ombre gel nails choose shades that are similar in tone and brightness it will be easier for you blending the colors. Using a Semilac Ombre Brush can help avoid bubbles and paint dirt on the skin around the nail plate.

Gather Materials You'll need: BasecoatTopcoatNail polish removerThree shades of nail polish in the same color family (light to dark)Clean-up brush or cotton swabWedge makeup sponge Scissors. For an ombré effect, you'll need three complementary colors. Cut the wedge makeup sponge to make the flat edge more narrow (based on the size of your nail), the goal is to have the wedge only be as wide as your nail.Apply a basecoat to your nails, make sure the coat is fully dried before proceeding to the next step. Brush the three colors in straight lines on the wedge makeup sponge, start with the lightest color at the base of the wedge, the colors can slightly overlap as you brush them onto the makeup sponge—this will help create the seamless fade. Gently blot the sponge onto your nail to transfer the polish, make sure all three colors get onto the nail. Use a clean-up brush and nail polish remover to remove any polish that got onto the skin around your nails. Apply a top coat to your nails immediately after sponging since it will not only help prevent chips but help enhance the fade, as well. The topcoat can help to blur the polishes together.
