Because of my short nail beds and relatively short nails, my French manicures usually end up looking something like 90 percent French tip, 10 percent nail. Thanks to an ultra-thin line, the micro French eliminates that problem, giving a more subtle effect and the illusion of a longer nail bed. A micro French manicure is exactly what it sounds like: a French manicure, but with as thin a line of polish at the tip of the nail as possible. Of course, not all micro French manicures are the same level of “micro.” You can have a micro French mani with a barely detectable line of polish, or one with just a skinnier French than normal. Either way, this style is especially great for those of us who love the look of a French manicure, but also want to have one that doesn’t overpower shorter nails.

As much as I love all of these trends, I'm definitely someone who leans more towards the quiet luxury aesthetic, so you'll often find me sporting a milky nail polish or classic French tip during the warmer months. As the name suggests, it features a "barely-there" French tip that blends in beautifully with the rest of the nail, creating this subtle yet polished finish. This trend works for all nail shapes. It's perfect for a natural yet polished finish. The subtler, the better in my opinion. The ideal trend for any minimalists out there. This manicure is great for summer, but it will also see you through every single season. There's no denying how healthy it makes your nails look. The great thing about this trend is that it's easy to recreate at home. If you want to try a subtle French tip, opt for a milky white polish instead of a classic white shade for a softer effect.

A white French manicure is the most classic nail design. The timeless look has been taking over tips for decades. But that doesn't mean you must stick to the traditional color scheme. You can experiment with contrasting colors, swipe on a chrome topper, or add texture with builder gel, to name a few. Make French nails more precious with the textural touch of gemstones. Add some sparkle to your look with glittery French tips. Painting each one in a different hue makes the manicure even more magical. This modern French mani juxtaposes the milky pink polish with jet-black tips. Plaid isn't just for schoolgirls. This punky stiletto manicure breathes new life into the popular pattern, featuring elaborate plaid French tips. Lean into a moodier look with this black-and-tan ombré French design. The way the colors alternate between the base and the tips creates such a cool design. Polka dots are always a classic, but opting for tons of tiny spots puts a fresh twist on the evergreen motif. That's what makes this mani feel so cutting edge. Adding pink designs to your white tips gives them a more playful feel. Topping the look with gold and pearl-colored nail gems adds extra pizazz to the set. Butter-yellow nails are still going strong, popping up on red carpets and beyond. Adding a chrome finish makes them even more trendy. Orange is already an eye-catching choice for French tips. However, opting for an orange polish with a sparkly, iridescent finish makes the look even more mesmerizing. Chevron-shaped tips offer a unique take on the traditional French design. Add a different nude polish to each tip to make the shape truly stand out. A simple white swirl is all it takes to make this modern French mani a marvel. It really pops against the pine green tips. This elaborate nail design is a gift. The pink and red bows perfectly complement the crisp, Black tips. Tons of texture and sage chrome make this French set anything but predictable. With so many nail trends in one look, this is absolutely a modern manicure. Get your dose of vitamin C with this citrus French manicure. Lemon and lime have never looked so good.

It makes sense, then, that with minimalist manicures dominating as the most popular nail trends of 2025 so far, we’re seeing many nail artists looking for ways to upgrade the humble French tip for the year ahead. We’ve already spotted the seriously glowy tinted French taking off, as well as the ultra-cool chrome French tips, but spring’s latest upgrade might just be our favourite yet. Enter: the “iced French”. A fresh upgrade to the original French manicure, Carmelina describes the look as being “clean, minimal and elevated with a subtle shimmer that gives a cool, frosted finish.” Similar to the “angel” chrome manicure that emerged earlier in the year, it has an almost ethereal feel to it thanks to the soft, silvery colour palette and sheeny finish. The real magic happens when the light hits it, says Carmelina. It glows in the most understated, elegant way. To start, a milky base is needed to keep everything feeling light and dream-like. Carmelina is clear that the key to this look is opting for a milky white colour and avoiding a pink base. Finally, finish with a “delicate French tip” as a nod to the classic manicure with a modern edge. Any thin brush that you have on hand will work beautifully, Carmelina says. Gel nail artist Nicole has created the most ethereal iced French manicure by pairing a milky base coat with a soft white chrome top coat. Utter perfection. Cat eye nails are known for their ultra high-shine finish, which means they pair perfectly with this frosty trend. Created by Mélo Beauty Lounge, the square nail shape and almost holographic effect make for a seriously cool nail look. Perfectly executed by luxury manicurist Laura, this looks like a classic French manicure at first glance but is elevated by an icy chrome top coat. It's an upgraded version of clean girl nails. Lauren Kay's soft and milky set has a subtle frosted finish that adds interest to a simple creamy French manicure. These would make beautiful wedding day nails. Make like celebrity nail artist Kim Truong and add a subtle layer of pixie dust shimmer to your set for extra dimension when it catches the light. While the French manicure is characterised by its white tip, you can really play into the “iced” element by mixing up the colour. We’re obsessed with the butter yellow shade that Sydney-based nail artist Britt has used here. The ombré French — a seamless blend on the classic tip — is taking over nail salons. Add a modern twist with a dusting of silver chrome powder for an icy, ethereal finish like this look by kloudy_nail.studio on Instagram.
